Founder's Story

I, Lightness Bayo - Founder and DirectorLightness (Founder) only completed seventh grade in primary education, as my parents had a large family and couldn’t afford to support further education. However, this setback didn’t hinder my determination. I ventured into small businesses to provide for my mother and younger siblings. Along the way, I extended my support to neighbors and eventually founded an organization dedicated to empowering individuals to excel in life. Currently, I work alongside my husband and children, aiming to impact even more lives positively. It feels as though God has entrusted me with a mission, and I intend to fulfill it with unwavering passion. Perhaps, when my journey ends, He will return to witness the profound testimony of my accomplishments.

I am in the final stages of writing my upcoming book, which will be released next month. This book is a celebration of the indomitable spirit of STRONG WOMEN, inspired by my own journey as a STRONG WOMAN. My ultimate goal is to empower and educate countless individuals, particularly young girls, to embrace their true selves, recognize their self-worth, and nurture ambitious dreams. I firmly believe that irrespective of the challenging circumstances they may face, every individual has the power to chase their dreams and overcome any obstacles. As part of my personal growth, I have also honed my skills in the English language and ventured into the realm of business. Join me on this incredible journey of self-discovery and success!

HOPE Tanzania Foundation idea grew from 2009 who had a dream to educate girls and support mother and child health care. Her dream and passion germinated since 1984. The dream went on roaming in my mind until 2009 when I started Lake Eyasi Girls Vocational Training Center” as a Community Based Organization registered at district level.

Since 2011 through 2014 H.O.P.E Lake Eyasi Vocation Centre had built one classroom and dormitory for students and bought sewing machines and knitting machine for learning skill.

In 2014 through 2017 H.O.P.E Lake Eyasi Vocation Centre received donation from Live Now Inc USA and donation from the Family of Lightness Bayo that were used to build a health care centre. The health centre serves fourteen villages with a minimum distance of 4 Kilometers (2 miles) range in a bumpy road away from the centre.

I started volunteering to serve vulnerable girls who give birth at teen-age age and neglected by men. She also helps women especially widows, youths with special talents but with no support, and pregnant women who come from vulnerable families with no even the ability to cover the costs of giving birth.

Organization Background

Hope Tanzania Foundation Community Outreach Photos5Help Other People To Excel Tanzania Foundation is a Nongovernmental and non for profit organization which is founded by Lightness M.Bayo who had the dream of empowering women educating girls and saving children lives. She conceived this ddream in 1984 when was only 10 years old. This happenned when her father left her mother alone with 8 children be responsible for all responsibilities of everything by herself to date.

That subjected Lightness’s heart to a dream of women empowerment and since then to date always her heart is opened to help others and to conect people who wants support and people who wanted to support others. This has been her passion in her life always.

From her dream in the age of 10 to the time she started to impliment in 2009 she was 25 years. After doing so many activities of empowering community in different projects to date with a lot of success stories and impact to be seen with all people in the community, Lightness got rewarded with multiple certificates and trophies of good work at the National level. She is now 39 years and of a 14 years journey to realize her dream of founding a Foundation.

Some amazing discoveries

2009; She started her efort volluntearing in schools to advice and encouraging students and girls to finish the schools withou pregnancy.

2010; discovered many young girls who had droped out of school with various reasons and most was early pregnancy, it was the time I rented the room and opend the free girls vocational training center for all girl to came for learn sklls  coming with their babies for those had babies, it’s was so helpful for them and waeasy to educating and give them skills in one place, also health education, family planning and children care as most of them were very young mothers below 18 years down to 13 years old.

Most of them are coming from uneducated and poor families , I saw the importance of empowering them in health education and children care and the clinic was very far from the centre as just to go one way was 9 kilometers to 80 km just one a one way, so I thought to start the clinic facilities close to the center at the village and train the staffs to be able to give them the good care with warm welcome The clinic started in 2014 slowly suppoted with the frends and open it one side and started giving savices in December  2017 after 4 years of construction and 9 years  since I started the charity 2009.

My special thanks goes to my lovely Mother who devoted her times day and night in all her life to care and raise all of us 8 children by herself and make us strong enough and taught us about life without forget kindness and humanity and today I did well and be important to others.

My thanks also goes to my lovely hausband and our children for giving time my family time of my home responsibilities to use it sharing with others to work with community buld the vocational training School, Buld the health centre and Children Daycare and Pre-School.
